About the site:
KL Auschwitz was founded in 1940 by the Nazis and was the largest German concentration camp in the occupied Polish lands during World War II. By January 1945, Auschwitz exterminated about 1.5 million people from almost every European country. However, among them the largest murdered nationalities were Jews (1 million), followed by the Poles (70-75 thousand), Gypsies (21 thousand) and Soviet prisoners of war (15 thousand). Auschwitz consisted of 3 major camps: Auschwitz I founded in the pre-war Polish barracks in Oswiecim; Auschwitz II created in 1941 in Brzezinka around 3 km from the town, it was the largest in the complex; Auschwitz III- Monowitz, a slightly smaller set around 6 km from Oswiecim and functioning from 1942. People who immediately upon arrival were  not executed in the gas chambers, as prisoners were abused for slave labour for the camps or in the surrounding industrial plants and mines. Malnourished, sick, deprived of dignity and humanity the prisoners lived in inhumane conditions and constant terror. The camp was liberated by the Red Army on January 27th, 1945.
In 1947 on the site of the former Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II camps the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum was created. In after-camp blocks and barracks visitors can get acquainted with the vastness of human-killing courting by the Nazis on innocent people. The exhibition includes documents, photos of victims, but also personal things that were raked up from them such as shoes, bags, clothes, hair, etc. A visit to the museum is an obligatory lesson of history to every human being. In 1979 the Museum of Auschwitz- Birkenau was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.

About the tour:
The comfort tour can be organized upon the client’s request on a daily basis. It includes a car with a driver as well as a self-guided tour of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum in the morning until 10.00 a.m. or in the afternoon from 3.00 p.m. Reservation must be made at least 5 days before the tour date. Departure from Krakow depends on the availability of entry passes to the Auschwitz I camp and is individually agreed on with the client. The driver picks up the participants of the tour from their hotel in the Krakow area and transports them directly to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. The trip takes about 1.5 hr. On the site the clients receive guidebooks and visit the former concentration camp on their own without a local guide. In the morning and afternoon the Auschwitz Muzeum is not as crowded as in peak hours, what allows visitors to get to know the site more privately. The duration of the visit can be freely agreed on with the driver but should last no longer than 4 hr. After the tour the participants have a short break to rest or have lunch. Then they are taken to Krakow at the designated address. The entire trip takes approximately 7 hr. Depending on the date of tour and ticket availability, there is a possibility to take part in the guided tour. Ticket for the guided tour is paid separately.
